Members of the Audubon FFA, their families and other supporters traveled to Hamburg, Iowa on Wednesday, July 31st to volunteer in flood relief efforts. The chapter worked with the guidance of GoServ Global. GoServ Global’s Domestic Disaster Relief Team has spent the past couple months managing volunteers in Hamburg, Iowa, connecting volunteers to homes and other projects that need cleanup. The Audubon FFA was happy to assist in these efforts.
The Audubon team helped clean a home and prepare it for new drywall and floors, moved loads of trash from the streets, clean a storage unit and drywall the movie theatre. “These guys just blew me away with their awesome attitudes and work ethics!” shared Chipper Fyfe, GoServ Global Domestic/Promotions Intern.
“Getting a bus of volunteers to help with projects that were hard and dirty during summer break with no hesitation was pretty awesome! Our team made a difference and it was awesome to be a part of.” said Advisor, Mrs. Brittany Elmquist. The FFA motto is “Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live and Living to Serve” the Audubon FFA takes pride in their commitment to give back and make a difference. FFA Officer, Madison Vorm said “It was a great opportunity to be able to go and help out, even if it was only one day. It was awesome to see what we got accomplished as a group!”
The Audubon FFA Chapter also financially supported domestic relief efforts with funds from strawberries that were sold last year in a "Strawberries for Service" initiative.
