New Teacher in TownHello! My name is Erin O'Brien and I am a recent graduate from Iowa State University. My husband and I moved to Audubon a year ago from Des Moines with our two cats, Addie and Ares, and our "ferocious" dachshund, Piney. I have one stepson named Isaiah who recently graduated from Southeast Polk High School and hoping to join the Carpenter's Union. I am passionate about reading, listening to vinyl records, making a positive difference in the world, and spending time with my family and friends.
I will be teaching numerous English classes this year at Audubon High School and am excited to meet my new students. My goal is to be a supportive and compassionate teacher to ALL of my students, while helping them expand their knowledge of English and develop into strong, brilliant individuals. This school year, I will also be the student advisor for the school yearbook and newspaper, director of the school play, and the coach for IHSSA (Speech - Large Group and Choral Reading).
My class schedule for this fall semester is as follows:
Period 1: English II
Period 2: Creative Writing
Period 3: ----------------
Period 4: Global Literature Studies
Period 5: Composition
Period 6: Student Publications
Period 7: Composition
Period 8: English II
*** I strive to have open communication with my students and their families. If you or your student need extra support, please let me know so we can establish an action plan and guarantee a successful school year. Please, do not wait until the last minute when things seem too overwhelming! Give me a call or send me an email so we can talk or set up a meeting. You are not alone; we are in this together!
